- MAFIA CREATIVE MEETING

when: Monday 22nd SEPTEMBER, 2008 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm
where: 206 Benton Hall
what:  This meeting is intended to bring people together to chat about movie ideas and start off the process to build one or two larger collaborative productions to be produced by MAFIA this year (in addition to all the individual films everyone will be producing). All members and MAFIA alumni are invited to attend and share your thoughts, ideas, and scripts. This will be the first meeting focusing on developing one or two scripts for use in a collaborative "all org" large production. Arrive early for pizza and chat.

- MFA INDIE FILM SCREENING
 
when: Wednesday, 17th SEPTEMBER, 2008 - 7:30pm
where: Oxford Arts Center Theater (Uptown, Corner of College & High St)
what: Screening this week: "Mojave Phone Booth", starring Steve Guttenberg, Missi Pyle, David Deluise, Christine Elise, Robert Romanus, Kevin Rahm - followed by live music. Tickets are $5 at the door.

- MAFIA Equipment Training / New Member Orientation
 
when: Thursday 18th SEPTEMBER, 2008 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm (or later)
where: Oxford Arts Center (Uptown, Corner of College & High St.)
what:  This is a required meeting for new members who may (ever) want to check out equipment on their own, or schedule their own new project, but is open to all current members as well who may just want to learn about how everything works. The meeting will cover basics on how to use all of the equipment owned by MAFIA, as well as cover crew positions and safety info.

Note: Please arrive ON TIME, or you WILL miss important information. Also, DRESS appropriately! NO open-toed shoes, sandals, skirts, dresses or other loose clothing. The only thing you'll need to bring is a notepad and a pen.

We'll be showing some clips from recently produced films, discuss new events and we'll also allow members to announce their new projects and lots of other cool stuff. (Note: if you have a clip or trailer you'd like to show, please contact LINDSAY RICE before the meeting to arrange a time to show it during the meeting).

what: MAFIA's first General Assembly of the year is for both members and non-members and will include a general overview of the organization, new happenings and events, announcement of new film productions, new officers, Oxford Film Fest update, and a general overview of new programs and fun stuff MAFIA will be doing in the 2007-2008 year. New member registration and "low-down" on equipment will take place after the meeting. This meeting is usually no longer than 1 hour.

- LIVE VIDEO FILM IN THEATER
 
when: FEB. 20th through March 4th, 2007 (rehearsals and performances)
where: Leonard Theatre (in Peabody Hall)
what: The Luis Midence-directed experimental stage-play "Who is Sylvia" will integrate a 3-camera live video setup on-stage which will be edited and shown live on projection and television screens as a part of the production. MAFIA has been asked to head-up all live-video production aspects and we are looking for a Producer/Technical Director, 3 camera-operators and a Boom Operator for the production. - TCHAIKOVSKY WORLD PREMIERE DOC.

- FREEDOMLAND MAFIA FILM SCREENING!!!

what: The recently completed JC Schroder-directed 14-minute mafia-film FREEDOMLAND will have a private-screening for cast, crew, friends, and MAFIA members as its send-off to over 20 international film festivals (including Sundance and Cannes). The film's soundtrack was composed by "Angel" and "Buffy" composer Douglas Stevens. A Q&A session with the filmmakers will take place after the screening. Come, chat, hang-out and have fun!
