Workshop - "How to Make an Anti-Hollywood Movie (For Under 40 Grand)"

About the Workshop:
This a 2-hour interactive workshop where John will take you behind the scenes of his latest film Mojave Phone Booth using behind the scenes footage from the set and interaction with John and several of the film's cast. He will walk you through the process and talk about his experiences on how to produce a successful indie-feature for under $40,000. This is an interactive workshop, attendees are encouraged to ask questions and prompt discussion.

Several of the film's cast will also be taking part in this workshop including Christine Elise, Missi Pyle, Robert Romanus and David Deluise. The entire Mojave Phone Booth film will screen on Saturday Night, followed by a Q&A session with the cast/crew.

Workshop - "Directing The Composer"
Presented by Composer/Orchestrator: DOUGLAS ROMAYNE STEVENS
Just a few of his credits include ANGEL, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, MASTER & COMMANDER, THE TUXEDO, STEALING HARVARD and DAYBREAK.

About the Workshop:
This is a 2-hour interactive workshop where Stevens will discuss the details and effectiveness of the composer/director relationship, the ins and outs of the industry, modern production techniques and director/composer interaction. He'll walk through the steps of scoring a film, what works and what doesn't. Audio and video samples will be used (including some new, un-released works). This is an interactive workshop, attendees are encouraged to ask questions and prompt discussion.

JC Schroder (Director/Producer of the short Freedomland, which Stevens scored) will also be on hand to talk about the scoring process from a director's point of view. There are 2 films screening at OIFF which Stevens has composed the soundtracks for, Freedomland & Rocketboy.

Workshop - "Cinematography Film vs. Digital"

Emmy Award-Winning cinematographer Jeff Barklage's credits include: THE NAKED MAN, ARTWORKS, APRIL'S FOOL and THE YEAR THAT TREMBLED.

About the Workshop:
This workshop will cover modern camera techniques, changes and differences between film and digital mediums. It will take a look at film from a cinematographer's point of view, the benefits and drawbacks of HD and how the industry is changing technically. Barklage will also have 35mm and HD camera packages on hand to discuss the differences in a real-time format.
This is an interactive workshop, attendees are encouraged to ask questions and prompt discussion.
