What is Oxford International Film Festival?
The Oxford International Film Festival (OIFF) is quickly becoming the Midwest's largest annual international film event, featuring over 100 new short and feature-length independent films from around the globe, amidst 4-days of screenings, workshops, celebrity guests, concerts, filmmaker panels, parties & receptions, an opening-night gala and closing-night awards ceremony. In 2008, the festival will literally take-over the small college town of Oxford, Ohio and turn it into a film-lovers dream destination. The 1st annual event (held in April of 2007) was what the Cincinnati Enquirer called "Sundance without snow..." and was predicted by the Journal-News to "...soon be Midwest's largest film festival". With over 530 submissions from 41-countries on 6-continents in it's first year alone, and featuring more than 50 local, regional, US and WORLD premiere films, the Oxford International Film Festival is already a globally-recognized premiere-event both by national media and industry-professionals alike. "Our goal is to keep the festival focused on the filmmakers and guests, we may end up getting as big as Sundance, but OIFF is not Sundance, we're as new and unique as they come. There's just nothing like a small-town in the Midwestern US becoming a film phenomenon over-night." - JC Schroder, OIFF Executive Director & Founder

"Don't miss it!" - John Putch, Director, Srubs, Son of the Beach
"It's the only place to be." - Richard Kraft, LA Composer Agent and Director 'Finding Kraftland'
"an Extravaganza!" - Oxford Press
"Sundance without snow..." - Cincinnati Enquirer

As a note to those who may have searched for our event, we are the OXFORD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in Oxford, OHIO and are not affiliated or related to (in any way) other festivals such as the "Oxford Film Fest" in Mississippi or the "Oxford Festival of Films" in the United Kingdom.

OIFF Independent Crystal Awards...
The Oxford International Film Festival presents over 25 annual awards at each festival. Awards are chosen in two main categories, Jury Awards and Audience awards. Jury Awards are chosen from the accepted films by a select jury of industry professionals and local filmmakers. Audience-Choice awards are given in each category based on polls taken from audiences at the festival after screenings. All prizes and winners are presented at the OIFF Independent Crystal Awards the last day of the festival, which is a large, red-carpet, formal affair, with catered meal, special guest presenters, honoring the nominess and filmmakers in attendance, followed by a reception and meet and greet time with the winners. This ceremony will serve as the closing event for the festival. For a list of award-winners from the 2007 Oxford International Film Festival click here.

History...
The Oxford International Film Festival was created by independent film and event Director/Producer JC SCHRODER (Owner of Star Com Productions)
in the spring of 2006. Realizing that there was no major outlet for filmmakers in the region, and no major film festival to speak of -- Schroder began building support for what would become the first, largest and only major film festival in the region. The Miami Association of Filmmakers and Independent Actors (aka MAFIA Films) a student film production organization at Miami University of Ohio agreed to be the first to support the event, planning began, with eventually over a dozen major sponsors including the local government, arts foundations, and national corporations pledging their support. The first annual Oxford International Film Festival took place April 5-8, 2007 at the Marcum Conference Center in Oxford, Ohio, and was an incredible success, garnering public interest and media attention across the globe. As a result, the Miami [valley] Film Association was founded (the name stemming from the Miami-Ohio River, which runs through the region) as a non-profit corporation not only to manage the festival, but dedicated to supporting a variety of new year-round community and student film programs in the region (with the flagship program being the now annual Oxford International Film Festival).

Student Programs...
The Miami Film Association and Oxford International Film Festival are proud to present a number of film programs dedicated specifically to support local High-School and College students in learning about and producing their own films. MFA and OIFF are co-sponsoring a high-school film competition and several awards incentives leading up to the 2008 OIFF, including film production workshops for students, a short-film competition and a promotional-ad competition for the festival. All the entries will be shown at a regional high-school film festival sponsored by the Miami Film Association and Oxford International Film Festival dubbed the "Great Miami Film Fest" with the winning films going-on to screen at OIFF, free passes and other special prizes. For more information about this program contact Stephen Murray, festival Operation Director at steve@oxfordfilms.com or visit the program website by clicking here.

Who is the Oxford International Film Festival?
The Oxford International Film Festival is a program of the Miami Film Association, an independent non-profit corporation which was created in early 2007 to build support for and address the needs of filmmakers in the region by creating programs to support both high-school and college students, new independent filmmakers, and established filmmakers in the Miami River Valley region (Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Eastern Indiana) -- visit www.miamifilmassociation.com for more information. The Oxford International Film Festival is produced by the entertainment production management company Star Com Productions with the assistance of the Miami Association of Filmmakers and Independent Actors (aka MAFIA FILMS, a student filmmaking collaborative). To put it simply, the MIAMI FILM ASSOCIATION, STAR COM PRODUCTIONS, and MAFIA FILMS are the presenters of the event.
